Burr Ridge Mayor and Congressional Candidate Gary Grasso Announces Major Endorsements in Race for new 6th District

Webb: “…, I can think of no one else, and I mean no one else that I would rather endorse for the privilege of serving in the United States Congress than Gary Grasso.”

Burr Ridge, IL (Feb. 15, 2022) — Burr Ridge Mayor and Candidate for the 6th Congressional District, Gary Grasso, announced today the endorsements of three major leaders in the Republican Party in his quest to be the nominee in the November General Election against the winner of the Democratic Primary in June.

The new 6th Congressional District is almost equally divided between Southwestern Cook and Southeastern DuPage Counties.  Burr Ridge is approximately equally divided between DuPage and Cook Counties in the District.

Grasso began the virtual press conference by speaking about his accomplishments as mayor and as a former DuPage County Board member and then proceeded to introduce each of the individuals endorsing his candidacy.

“I have been elected four times as Mayor of Burr Ridge since 2005 and led the development with the help of many others, of our award-winning Village Center, built our state-of-the-art police center in 2010, provided a fitting memorial to honor our veterans, and brought significant business including Loyola Medical to our community,” stated Grasso.  “I have also served southwestern DuPage as an elected member of the DuPage County Board between 2012 and 2018.  During that time, I was Chairman of the DuPage 911 Board and oversaw the construction of two call centers providing DuPage County with the finest 911 system in the state. In addition, I served 12 years on the DuPage County Board of Health” added Grasso.

Former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Dan Webb, House Republican Leader in the Illinois General Assembly Jim Durkin, and DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin each endorsed Grasso and attested by video their individual reasons for the endorsements.

“As someone who has spent years protecting individuals by prosecuting those who have refused to abide by the law, I can think of no one else, and I mean no one else that I would rather endorse for the privilege of serving in the United States Congress than Gary Grasso,” explained Webb who most recently served as Special Prosecutor in the high profile Jussie Smollett case.

“I live in Burr Ridge which is in the district and for 15 years I have personally witnessed with firsthand knowledge the kind of extraordinary leadership and dedication that Gary has provided to our community.”

Durkin, who serves as State Representative for Burr Ridge, spoke about the importance of having a candidate with a reputation for fiscal responsibility. “We need strong fiscal leadership in Washington to stop the out-of-control spending that threatens our children and grandchildren of their legacy for the American Dream.  I am voting for Gary Grasso and ask that you do the same.”

Cronin reflected on his time working with Grasso on the DuPage County Board citing Grasso’s leadership in Burr Ridge as well. “I have come to know and work with Gary Grasso as a Mayor of Burr Ridge and as a member of the DuPage County Board for six years.  I enthusiastically endorse Gary Grasso from the new Illinois 6th District,” Cronin stated. “I’ve also known Gary as a Mayor of Burr Ridge. Gary’s leadership has transformed Burr Ridge into a leading community serving residents in DuPage and Cook Counties with fiscal responsibility, something we desperately need in Washington.”

Grasso thanked the three leaders for their support. “It takes courage to take a stand and get behind a candidate for public office.  I am honored and humbled that these three individuals have selected me as their choice for the 6th Congressional District.”
